Hi, I’m Clint, founder of C-Sure Consulting. In this week’s edition of C-Shorts, I’m sharing highlights from our fantastic family trip to London, pondering the future of trucking, transport, and technology, and reflecting on the role of the human touch in an automated world...
🎶 Music, Memories, and Magic Moments
It’s officially the summer holidays!
To kick things off in style, we headed down to London for an unforgettable weekend.
On Friday night, we watched Imagine Dragons light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was amazing! Everything at the stadium was so well organised, with friendly and helpful staff everywhere. For our two boys, this was their first time at a really big concert, and what an introduction it was! Imagine Dragons hold a special place in our hearts, especially as their music was pretty much the soundtrack to our incredible New Zealand trip earlier this year.
🚇 Science, Sights, and a Sunday Final to Remember!
On Saturday we caught the tube from Wood Green down to South Kensington to visit the Science Museum. It was brilliantly interactive, and the boys loved every minute. On Sunday, we visited the Tower of London and then went cruising along the Thames on a Horrible Histories boat tour. The boat tour was a brilliant way to see the sights and find out some fascinating facts along the way. Back at our holiday home in Tottenham, we cheered on the England Women's football team as they secured their historic Euros victory! Unfortunately, our trip didn't quite stretch to seeing the open-top bus parade as we needed to get back home to collect our dog, but it was still an unforgettable weekend. We rounded things off nicely on Monday by visiting Ravenscourt Park, the area where my wife grew up, which was a special and sentimental stop on our way back home.
The bar is certainly set high for the rest of the summer holidays, but we’ve plenty more planned. So, busy times ahead, but plenty of fun in store too! I'll try my best to find time to carry on with my blog and keep you updated.
🚚 Tesla Trucks and Tomorrow’s Transport
I spotted an interesting article about Tesla’s electric trucks this week. Tesla is rolling out integrated solutions to decarbonise their entire supply chain, from batteries and manufacturing processes to full energy systems. Trucking companies are now testing Tesla Semis to evaluate their viability, with encouraging results. But there are still some roadblocks along the way...
For electric trucking to really work, significant infrastructure investment is essential. Charging networks must be robust, reliable, and accessible, just like the petrol stations we take for granted today. Until then, switching from diesel to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) offers an immediate step toward cutting carbon footprints. It is generally more expensive, but it's also an easy drop-in solution that doesn’t require major changes to existing infrastructure or vehicle fleets.
Thinking further ahead, autonomous or driverless trucks are an interesting prospect, potentially addressing current driver shortages and helping mitigate the challenges presented by an ageing workforce. And new driver age regulations announced this year further emphasise the need for creative solutions to sustain the industry.
Support for driverless vehicles is certainly growing. Fully driverless cars have done millions of miles on public roads in other countries, including China, UAE and Singapore, but whether they are as safe as human-driven ones is still being investigated. And following a recent rule change from the UK government, Uber will begin to trial autonomous robotaxis in London next spring. Even trains, such as the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London, are becoming fully automated, although the DLR is the only one of its kind in London for now.
Could going fully driverless solve delays? Probably not for trains... Most UK train delays are caused by infrastructure faults, signaling issues, extreme weather, and disruption from trespassing or accidents. So removing the driver won’t necessarily make the system more reliable. But, when we think about road freight, where driver breaks are a legal and necessary requirement, automation could surely reduce transit times. In a world of growing expectations for immediate deliveries, could driverless trucks be the logical next step?..
🤖 People vs. Programming and The Personal Touch
Yet, while automation clearly has its benefits, we must not overlook the importance of human connection. In my previous roles, customer feedback consistently highlighted the value delivered by our own drivers. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, these individuals were ambassadors of the company, building relationships and trust that simply can't be replicated by automated technology.
It's the same feeling we got when we first walked into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday. The warmth, friendliness, and genuine care from the stadium staff set the entire tone for our experience. It made the difference between just attending an event and creating unforgettable memories.
As much as we embrace technology, I still strongly believe the human element is what sets a good experience apart from a great one.
✅ Sustainability Step by Step
Companies like Tesla aren't alone in realising the need to transform their supply chains toward sustainability. But what practical steps can businesses take right now?
Route Optimisation Leveraging technology to find the most fuel-efficient routes.
Fleet Conversion Moving to electric or alternative fuels (like HVO).
Infrastructure Investment Installing charging points and fueling stations to support low-carbon fleets.
Supply Chain Visibility Using digital twins to track and reduce carbon emissions across their operations.

🚉 Last Stop...
From concerts to carbon footprints, driverless trucks to dedicated staff, this week was another great reminder of how interconnected everything truly is.
Whether it's people, logistics, or sustainability, they all depend on one another.
And I think the key lies in somehow balancing it all, finding some kind of harmony between automation and genuine human interaction.
